The factory owner Håkan Lindstedt tells

- this year it's 93 year since my grandfather Anton Hjalmar Johansson, born in Uppsala 1884, based his company. From the start the company was called “Anton Johansson's Bleck - and plåtslageri”. During the year 1911 built he an house on Västra Järnvägs- gatan in Svartbäcken. That's where he started his business in the basement floor of his new house, says the factory owner Håkan Lindstedt.

Arbetslaget fr frsta bygget.

Many houses in Uppsala still carries tracks of Anton Johansson's activity

During many years the company performed sheet metal work on several well-known Uppsala buildings, as Uppsala slott, Högre Almänna Läroverket and individual schools, a number of student nations, Samariterhemmet, Gillet at Fyristorg, old Uppsala church, Elisabethhemmet on Geijers gatan and many other buildings. The well known ridge-turret with spar on Elisabethhemmet became entire lined with copper plate during construction around 1910.

Expansion and modernization

Already 1914 he inherited moreover a sheet metal company of a pensioned sheet metal master. This company was located on Kungsängsgatan 7. Mainly, both places worked with coverage of ceilings and production and repairs off tinvessels. The heavy transports were done on that time with hand carts and the transports up Carolinabacken and further to slottet was of course particular burdensome.
- grandfather that was a lot of ingenious and wise person purchase in 1923 a T-Ford pickup to pursue the transports. The car could be used both to company transports and to the family's Sunday outings.

Already in the 30th Anton Johansson, who was a curious and clean living man and moreover an eager to learn person, to interest himself for the stainless sheet metal, at the time a newly invented product. The new stainless material required newly and considerable machines and also new welding equipment.
Significant investments was necessary and the company provided among other thing a two and a half meter's edge buck machine, it was exceptional big for those days' relations. Moreover, he got the necessary welding equipment and specialcutters. The stainless part of the production took place at a new premise at Västra Järnvägsgatan, but the traditional sheet metal works- was carried out still in the workshops on Kungsängs gatan 7, which was in until the 1960s.
The first stainless kitchen counters became an a popular product and most of them where ordered to measure. This each a production that continued longlily in on 1960s. During the world war II the production slimmed-down of well-known reasons.
Because of his health, Anton Johansson submitted 1945, the business to its sons, Hilding (that is father to Håkan and Ragnar), Holger and Sixten Lindstedt. At that time, the company opened office premises with address Klostergatan 1, where Sixten Lindstedt functioned as MD. New appropriate premises were built 1963 on Portalgatan 4, where the company exists than today.

During 1960-talet the company flourished and many important investments were done in order to render the production more effective . During this time approximately 25 persons where employed. The sheet metal division was liquidated 1970 and a choice was made to concentrate entirely on the stainless part. A new shift in ownership took place 1982, then the third generation, Håkan Lindstedt and his brother Ragnar inherited chefskapet along with engineer nest Alfredsson as MD.
- during 80s and 90s big investments was made with among other thing computer governed machines that for example punching automatic machine, semiautomatic scissors and edge pressures Håkan says.

During 2000 the next big changes where carried out. Anton Johansson ' s stainless workshop's AB ceases to be a family owned companiy, when it was sold to mr Mats Flood in 2003. Mats Flood also has two other companies that he hopes will interact with each other. One of the companies are MF production AB that works with lego manufacturing of for example high precision tools within several materials. The other company is Machinova AB that is specialized within grinding and lathing.

Mats have invested a lot of in the companies with a firm beleif that this will be the melody of the future. Anton Johansson ' s is run at present with Bo Alfredsson and Håkan Lindstedt as plant managers, and now with Mats Flood as MD.
